Overview
Liberty Square is Command Line's original open-world social simulation, an expansive, richly detailed urban environment built inside Fortnite Creative that gives players a place to explore, gather, and interact beyond the constraints of traditional combat-first game modes.
Designed as a living city rather than a battleground, Liberty Square features multiple distinct zones, interactive storefronts, social gathering spaces, and a sandbox environment built for player expression and community building. It's Fortnite as a social platform, a proof of concept for what the engine can do when the design goal is connection rather than competition.

The Vision
As Fortnite has evolved from a battle royale into a full creative platform, the opportunity to build social spaces, places where players hang out rather than fight, has become increasingly compelling. Command Line built Liberty Square to explore that frontier: what does a great social hub inside Fortnite look like, and how do you design an environment that makes people want to stay?
The answer was an urban environment that felt alive, a city with distinct neighborhoods, each with its own character, activities, and opportunities for player interaction. Not a theme park, not a lobby, a place.

World Design
- Multiple Distinct Zones: Liberty Square is divided into neighborhoods that each have their own aesthetic and function. From commercial districts with interactive storefronts to open plazas designed for gathering, each zone was designed to feel purposeful and give players a reason to explore.
- Interactive Storefronts & Activities: Throughout the city, players can interact with shops, activities, and environmental elements, giving the world texture and encouraging exploration. The interactive layer rewards players who take the time to look around rather than rushing through.
- Social Gathering Spaces: Large open plazas, rooftop areas, and communal spaces were designed specifically for player congregation, places where groups naturally come together, hang out, and create their own social moments within the game.
- Sandbox for Player Expression: Liberty Square's design philosophy gives players room to make the space their own, to use the environment as a canvas for their own social dynamics, content creation, and community events rather than following a prescribed game loop.
- Community Events Platform: The open, flexible design makes Liberty Square a natural venue for hosted events, including community gatherings, in-game parties, creator meetups, and brand activations that use the city as a backdrop.
